One Word Blog Day: Official Rules

One Word Blog Day is coming up; just two days left (June 30)! Time to get your dictionaries out and pick a word. Time for me to write out the official rules of participation. Ugh.

Your blog title must be “One Word Blog Day.” No cheating by writing other words in the title! I’m watching you…
Only one word can be written in the entry. Hence the title of this day. However, I will not oppose definitions, so long as they’re definitions of your one word.
If you plan to participate, comment on this blog entry. This will help to keep tabs on everyone, and it will help for the commenting spree that should ensue.
You do not have to link back to this website, but it would help. Your commenters might give you a giant “WTF?”

Choose your words wisely. I chose “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” in an attempt to be witty for the first OWBD, and it ended up backfiring. Three other people chose the same word.

That’s it, folks! Although it’s not an official rule, go on a commenting spree. The whole reason I created the day was because I got backlogged on websites that I needed to comment on. It’s easy to comment when you have only one word to read. Use that to your advantage!

My New Obsession

The Writer’s Block is my new obsession, I swear! It’s a project I intended to be a, maybe, check-once-a-day type thing, but I’m there 24/7. I also intended it to be a kick-in-the-ass type thing for my writing, but I’m so busy refreshing the “who’s online” list that I haven’t gotten any writing done. Oops!

I knew starting a group blog for writer’s would be something that would interest a few people, but, so far, it’s been very active! People join, people post, people comment. *dies of happiness* It makes me feel all giggly inside when something I create actual, um, works.

Besides working on the Block, my time is being monopolized by Pickles. She has learned how to knock on my bedroom door. So, even if I kick her out, she’s still taking up my time! Rotten kitten!

Her first vet appointment is on Tuesday. I wonder if he’ll give me a kitty tranquilizer if I ask nicely.

Wordpress Just Gets Better

Every time I turn around, Wordpress amazes me. The most recent OMGZ-THIS-IS-AWESOME event was the realization that plugins are being made for idiots. One of those idiots is me.

With a simple upload and activation alone (NO EDITING!), I was able to add Commentluv (links to your latest blog post automatically when you comment), Gravatars, social bookmarking, and threaded comments! Do you know how amazing that is? The last time I tried to install a plugin, I nearly killed myself trying to find lines and edit and copy and paste and… *dies a little*

I was also able to add a few things behind the scenes, but who cares about those? *runs to reply to a comment and look at gravatars*

When it’s raining, hailing, and the wind is blowing houses enough to rattle your china on top of all those warnings, it means there is a significant chance of a tornado touching down in your area.

I’m glad you went to the center of your house to protect yourself and your family, but… wait. What’s this? Your elderly, sweet, adorable doggy is outside! Your dog, who does nothing but love and cuddle everyone she sees, is helpless roaming around your yard as she tries not to blow away.

No, it turned out there was no tornado in our specific area of the city. No, it turned out there was no rotation. No, it turned out there was other no life-threatening weather condition. I had no idea you were psychic enough to predict all of this. I had no idea that you’d look into the future and know that those tornado warnings from EVERYONE in the weather business would amount to very little in our area.

I’m so impressed with your abilities that I’m going to ask you to babysit my puppies the next time I’m out-of-town. You have such a gift!

One Word Blog Day (Phailure & Rebirth)

Right. I admit it. I failed to keep OWBD going, even though it was a day for the lazy. Turns out, I’m lazier than lazy. I’ve reached a new level of lazy. I call it Boredom. My parents call it Bumville. But they also call Larry the Cable Guy funny; so we won’t count their vote.

OWBD was supposed to be May 31st this year, and some did participate. However, with lack of my participation/word-of-mouth advertising/forcing people to do it at gunpoint, it failed to take off like it did in the first year. We had over 70 participants for its first time in the waters of the internet, but the second time… not so much.

Why did I let one of my biggest successes go to waste? Sims 2’s fault, probably. Well, I propose a new start. Instead of May 31st (since most of us missed it), let’s do it June 30th this year! For those of you who did actually do it on May 31st, do it again, bitches!

As Sewwy says, I have phailed (with a “ph”) at my own challenge! It started yesterday, and it started brilliantly. I said to myself around eight in the morning, “Oh! Come on. This is going to be so easy.” At noon, “Wow. That was a good movie. I should go look up that actress on IMDB… oh, hell.” At three in the afternoon, I was sweating a bit. My parents came home at six that evening, and I was begging my father to give me back my laptop. This morning, I kept going into his hobby room to look at it. By the time they got home, I was finished.

There should be a rehab center for computer addicts.
