Get Pissed, Rinse, Repeat.
I’m not going to get pissed.
I’m not going to get pissed.
I’m not going to get… oh, fuck it! I’m pissed.
The other day, I noticed that my domain was getting some rather unusual downtime. For my host, who I’ve been with for, oh, a year and a couple of months, any downtime at all was unusual. I contacted my host. She said the higher-ups were upgrading (i.e. - tinkering with all their hosteds’ livelihoods). I figured it’d be over with soon enough. No worries.
Then my baby went down. For an entire day. God help me.
Last night, it finally sprung up, all fresh and purty. Except… something wasn’t right. It was missing a few things. Like, oh, all the changes I’ve mad within the past couple of days. All the comments, all the posts on SEX, the changes made behind the scenes - gone.
Now, it’s rather stupid to get upset over a few posts and comments, but, damnit, I’m upset. I hate repeating myself.

you know, i’d be pissed too. it’s not just about posts or comments but all the work put into it by yourself and your members

I think anyone would be pissed - it’s the fact that it’s yours, something you put time and effort into. They have ways of saving the information before whatever they do and they didn’t - so that’s a severe failing on their end. It seems like they just went with a backup that was a couple days old, with the way the posts at SEX were set back. Plus from what I gather (after Chenoa showed me a thread about missing posts when I mentioned it again) it’s happened more than once? It’s plain sloppiness on their end. I’m sorry love =(

Believe me, I understand exactly how you feel. :/

Who is your host? you should totally go through hostgator, because they rock.

Want me to kick some host butt? Trust me, I’ve very good at it!!

My host was hacked once and I lost EVERYTHING. Years worth of posts, comments, pictures–really, EVERYTHING. It was stupid on my part to be missing it all, but now I make backups obsessively.
On the bright side, you only lost a few days worth of stuff. It’s still annoying as hell, especially if you were making changes behind the scenes, but hopefully it won’t happen again.

You sound like me! I am SO ticked. And now I’ve asked twice to be put on another server so we’ll see. But the first time they were like, uh, der, you shouldn’t have problems anymore. Liars. But I totally don’t want to move hosts, too much trouble especially with my stupid SSL…

Honestly, I’d be upset and annoyed too. I cannot stand it when my sites down and I don’t know what I’d do if I ever lost any comments/posts. Luckily, if that did happen I have automatic daily backups so it wouldn’t be too much hassle to sort things out.
Did you get all the things back?

Oi, Elyse fix my link in your blogroll
