NVIDIA can suck my balls!

When I spend over $300 on a video game, I’d like to be able to play it! But, thanks to NVIDIA, I can’t! Suck my balls, you piece of shit graphics card!

I recently purchased the last three expansion packs (and two stuff packs) for the Sims 2, completing my expansion pack collection. I was so excited to play; from the details I read online and in the boxes, I was going to be able to do so much! I uninstalled my previous games, ensuring that everything was fresh and new, and spent all day (and I mean that) installing and getting ready for playtime.

When I finally finished install, I had to wait 20 minutes for the game to load. Bad? Yeah, but I understand. I have a lot of custom files; the game is big; a long load time is to be expected. When the game pops up, I go to my neighborhood (more load time), I create-a-sim (MORE load time), and DUN DUN DUN!

There’s a huge graphics glitch. I mean, HUGE! There was no way I was going to play that game with a graphics glitch that was so ugly. It made gaming impossible and annoying. Want to see it? Here’s a video (not made by me) of the glitch… ignore the horrible dance music:

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

After weeks of researching, researching, downloading drivers, researching, downloading “fixes,” more researching, and giving up, I finally decided to try messing with the preferences within the game. And I fixed it. And I screamed. I was happy I fixed it; I was pissed that all I had to do was fiddle.

I finally get to play my game. I wait for 20 minutes to load the game, wait for a minute or two to load the neighborhood, wait a minute or two to load my household, and I play. Five minutes into playing, I get the Blue Screen of Death. And I scream again.

More researching tells me that this is an NVIDIA problem. The research also tells me that NVIDIA has a beta driver out there that can fix this problem, but I’ll be damned if I can find it. The wiki I went to had a link that was broken. So, I end up cruising around NVIDIA’s website for a day or two before I finally find the sumbitch. I download; I install.

I load my game for 20 minutes. I load my neighborhood. I load my household. I decorate for a bit. I turn on the live mode. GAME CRASHES.

Now it’s telling me I have a direct3d error. It’s that damned NVIDIA card again! Now my stepfather’s telling me the only probable solution to getting my $300+ game working is to drop more money on an ATI graphics card (for his computer, btw)! I’m sick of spending money. I don’t have a job. What money I have, I’d like to save! And what money I’ve spent, I’d like to enjoy.

The worst part is that I’m not alone. I’m not the only one who can’t play their game (not only the Sims 2… other games are effected) because NVIDIA distributes pieces of shit to their customers.

So, NVIDIA, if you can see this: You have a lot of ball-sucking to do.

Edit: I ended up dropping $50 on an ATI card that happened to be on clearance (thank you, God). My father hooked it up, fiddled, handed it over to me, and I haven’t stopped playing. Nothing has gone wrong. The graphics - perfect. The play time - perfect. I just wished this hadn’t come at the same time my final speech is due… DUN DUN DUN!

Thats really crap. My Sims 2 game sometimes messes up but it sorts itself out if I go onto the neighbourhood. I have no expansion packs though so maybe thats why.

My game has never messed up like that. Now, that I say that it probably will though. That sucks.

It’s Bon Voyage itself. I ended up having to uninstall it. I lost ALL of my custom files, over 40,000 of them.

I almost cried. But my game is working again.

I heart the sims2. I’ve got mine loaded onto my laptop, and I hear you about load times. What a peice of crap. If I didnt need my laptop for school I would leave the game running ALL DAY.

glad you got it fixed! Bon voyage apparently has had ALOT of bugs. they have some patches over at thesims2ea site. also if you have alot of expansion packs and custom content it will slow your game down alot. here is a link that can help out in the future.

I used to love NVIDIA… when I was ordering my laptop I upgraded the graphics card to have an NVIDIA card… and it’s been a freaking nightmare. It was supposed to be a gaming card but it sucks… I can’t install the updates for it because it makes my WoW freeze (it was great ’til I upgraded the drivers)… then yeah the “fix” patches and all are all broken links - then at one point I actually tried to search for my card on their site and it claimed it didn’t even exist.
NVIDIA does have a lot of ball sucking to do =(
I’m really glad you were able to get a graphics card that works though - especially at just $50!! Yay!

That’s weird. I’ve gotten that glitch, but it hasn’t made my game crash. And the only time the glitch showed up was if I alt+tabbed to another screen, and then back. And then I was able to fix it by switching the screen resolution to something else and then back.

*shrug* I’ve never had any problems with NVIDIA. As Jen mentioned, the new expansion pack has a LOT of bugs, and it could have been a bug in the game.

My Desperate Housewives game does that..I’m going to try installing it on this laptop and see if it works on here.

And yes, I have the Desperate Housewives game. It was only £5 :)

you know what’s really sad is that my sims 2 plays better on my laptop with crappy intergrated intel graphics and 1gig of ram. while my main pc with it’s nvidia graphics card and 2 gig of ram chokes on it every time i try to run it. and this is on minimal settings… craziness…

also we should send each sims and make babies.
